Art & Culture

The beautiful landscape of Pembrokeshire has been the inspiration for artists and makers for hundreds of years. Augustus and Gwen John grew up in Tenby, Beatrix Potter stayed there and was inspired by rabbits on the clifftops while both Virginia Woolf and George Bernard Shaw took regular holidays in Manorbier. The tradition goes on as contemporary musicians, artists and filmmakers come to Pembrokeshire for inspiration. Plenty of music and art is a stone's throw away...

Tenby has two music festivals: Tenby Arts Festival which takes place in September has an eclectic mix of classical and modern music and performance art at venues around the town, whilst the Tenby Blues festival in November features classic blues acts from around the world.

Westival has been building a reputation as an intimate summer dance festival for those in the know.

The Laugharne Weekend, held in March is a well established literary and music festival.

The Big Retreat Festival in Lawrenny has been gathering momentum as a deeply chilled festival offering well being therapies, music and beautiful surroundings.

The award-winning Tenby Museum & Art Gallery is packed full of local paintings and drawings, historical artefacts and archives and archaeological treasures. It’s a perfect a snapshot of Tenby’s  history and culture in a superb setting on Castle Hill.
