Pembrokeshire is an ideal venue for outdoor sports and activities. Within striking distance, we have miles of footpaths, quiet roads and forest trails for walking, cycling and mountain biking, beautiful beaches for watersports and some world-class sporting events too. Whether you compete for fun, spectate or are a serious sportsperson there is something for everyone.

Triathlon: Tenby is the base for Ironman Wales in September and the Long Course Weekend in June. These endurance events attract thousands of competitors and global news coverage. The energy is incredible- Even as a spectator, you can feel the atmosphere buzzing!

Cycling: based in Tenby and suitable for a range of abilities are the CarTen100 annual ride in September and the Wales Sportive multi-distance ride in June. Meet, compete and share your love of cycling.

Swimming: The Tenfoot Swim in July: is a challenging 5km splash from Tenby to Saundersfoot. Or just for fun check out the Tenby Boxing Day and Saundersfoot New Year’s Day swims. Hundreds of swimmers in fancy dress take part in these freezingly festive dips to raise money for charity.

Golf: Within easy walking distance, on the sand dunes between Tenby and Penally is Tenby Golf Club –a challenging course known as ‘the birthplace of Welsh golf’. For a more relaxed game (and fine dining afterwards) try Trefloyne Manor Golf Course in the woodland behind Penally Village. A 5 minute drive along the coast is Celtic Haven for golf on the cliff tops. All three clubs welcome visiting players.

If you want to have a go at some local water sports for yourself there is plenty of choice locally. Try your hand at surfing, coasteering, paddleboarding or jetsking lessons. Packages range from basic equipment hire to intensive lessons with qualified instructors.

Great water fun can be had at the aqua park Wild Lakes near Molleston which specialises in Wake Boarding and Ringo.
